HELLO! My name is Sara Anne Donnelly and I'm a freelance writer and pretty-much-real Mainer (moved here when I was six, sorry!). I write features, essays, and the occasional home decor piece for Yankee, Down East, Maine Homes, and Maine Public Radio.

Over my twenty odd years as a reporter, I've worked as the staff writer at Portland's alt-weekly, the managing editor of the business magazine Mainebiz, and a contributing editor at Down East. I've written about all corners of the state  favorite pieces include how legitimately terrifying Stephen King's hometown is, how the tiny ash borer beetle might destroy one of the country's oldest artforms, and how the best view at Acadia National Park just might be straight up. In my spare time, I am a teaching artist at the Telling Room, a nonprofit that teaches storytelling to children, where I design and implement writing workshops in partnership with area schools.

Have an idea for a magazine or radio piece about Maine or New England? I'd love to hear from you! Drop me a line.
